Is your inCharge X cable charging slowly? This guide helps you diagnose and fix common fast-charging issues with the 100W 6-in-1 keyring cable.

Quick answer

If your inCharge X cable isn't fast charging, the issue is almost always the charger, the device port, or the cable connection—not the cable itself. Check your power adapter's wattage, clean the connectors, and ensure you're using a supported charging protocol.

Why fast charging might not work

Fast charging requires three things to align: a compatible charger that can deliver enough power, a cable that supports the same protocol, and a device that requests it. The inCharge X supports USB-C Power Delivery (PD) up to 100W, but if your charger only outputs 10W or uses an older standard like Qualcomm Quick Charge, you won't see full speed.

Another common culprit is a dirty or obstructed USB-C port. Lint, dust, or debris can prevent a solid electrical connection, causing the cable and device to fall back to a slower, safer charging rate.

When to suspect the cable itself

While the inCharge X is built for durability, physical damage like bent pins or a frayed connector can interrupt the data and power lines needed for fast charging. If you've ruled out the charger and port, inspect the cable ends closely.

Also note that using a USB-A to USB-C adapter (if you're using one) will limit charging to USB-A speeds—usually 12W or less. The inCharge X delivers its full 100W only over a direct USB-C to USB-C connection.

Diagnosis steps

  • Symptom: Your device charges very slowly or shows 'Charging' instead of 'Fast Charging' when connected to the inCharge X.
  • Likely cause: The most common cause is an underpowered or incompatible charger. For example, a 5W iPhone cube or a 10W wireless charger pad won't trigger fast charging. Another cause is a dirty USB-C port on your device or cable. Check your charger's output rating (look for 'PD' or 'Power Delivery' and at least 18W for phones, 60W+ for laptops).
  • Corrective action: 1) Use a USB-C to USB-C charger that supports Power Delivery and matches your device's requirements. 2) Clean the USB-C ports with a dry, soft brush or compressed air. 3) Reconnect the cable firmly until it clicks. 4) Try a different USB-C port on your laptop or hub if available. If the problem persists, test the inCharge X with a known fast-charging charger and a different device to isolate the fault.
  • Stop or choose another option: If the cable still doesn't fast charge after trying two different PD chargers and cleaning all ports, the cable may have a physical defect. Contact Rolling Square support for a replacement. Do not attempt to open or repair the cable yourself.

Product facts

  • inCharge® X - 100W, 6in1 keyring cable: The inCharge X delivers up to 100W of power through USB-C Power Delivery. This means it can fast-charge a MacBook Pro at full speed, but only if your charger also supports at least 100W PD output.
